Howdy, gang. This is your resident author, Cody Williams here again to provide you with another update on what I've been working on as well as what's coming in the future. For starters, I'm sure you all were aware of my appearance at this year's Booktober Fest at Mr. K's in Johnson City! I had a great time and got to meet a lot of cool people and readers. It was such an honor for me to be there representing not only myself and my books but also the great crew I work with over at The Daily Downforce. I can't discount how honored I am! I still have a few copies of #BunnyBoy sitting in my office. If any of you would like to purchase a signed copy, hit me up on X (formally Twitter) or Facebook and we'll work something out as far as payment goes. The view from the table at 2023's Booktober Fest! With this event going so well, I'm also in talks with Mr. K's about doing a signing there for the release of The Fifth Line. Nothing concrete yet, I just thought it was worth mentioning. If we can get a deal finalized, we'll update the Events page for you here on this website. In related news, I've been in talks with some local libraries about including my novel in their local author sections. As soon as I hear back from them, I'll let you know what's up. #BunnyBoy might just be in a library near you very soon! Also, before I forget, the Barnes and Noble edition of Bunny Boy is out right now! This new eBook second edition includes this awesome new cover art, a new introduction by the author (that's me!), and the short story, "The Condom Balloon". Be sure and grab your copy today over on BarnesAndNoble.com! Now on to what this whole From the Desk blog is really about: writing. I just finished up the final draft of #TheFifthLine a handful of weeks ago. That book is done, done and I'm hoping to have some ARCs in by Thanksgiving. As per my usual way of working, the paperback edition of The Fifth Line will contain a bonus story this one titled "A Silent Hymn For Honey Bear". But again, that's only if you buy the paperback trade edition. The eBook will contain the novella only. I'll also more than likely do a release event, be it virtual or in person, for the release of The Fifth Line near January 19th, 2024. Stay tuned for news about that. Below, you can get a glimpse of the front and back covers for the novella. As for what else has been going on with me, I was a music major in college. I jumped through all the hoops, taking private lessons for my primary instrument, the trombone and I even performed a solo recital my senior year. Since then, though, I've not really tinkered around with it much at all. Earlier this year, I made the New Year's resolution to get back in the swing of things. I played my instrument a handful of times throughout the year but learned that the f-attachment (or trigger) was stuck on my Xeno, pictured below. So, I sent it off to get chem cleaned and I just got it back. It's beautiful, isn't it!? And I'm pleased to announce that I will be playing this puppy with the Johnson City Community Concert Band for their Christmas Time Is Here concert the first Monday in December. My first practice is in a week and I'm nervous but excited. At least this year I can say that I conquered a New Year's resolution! While my trigger horn was at the cleaners, I tinkered around on this thing. This is my Custom Z jazz trombone. As far as recommendations go, I don't really have much to go over. But, since I'm writing this on Friday the 13th, I'll recommend the old Friday the 13th: The Series from back in the '80s. No, it doesn't really have anything to do with Jason or Camp Crystal Lake but it's a very serviceable horror anthology-style show in the sense that The X-Files has monster-of-the-week episodes. Give it a watch, if you're able to find it. You can get it either on DVD or a lot of those episodes have been uploaded to YouTube, albeit with varying quality. I'd also like to give a shoutout to this previously underappreciated film, the infamous Halloween III. It's the best of the Halloween movies, in my opinion, despite the lack of Michael Myers. Granted, I've never been that into slashers. If no Michael Myers bothers you, view at your own risk, I suppose. That's all I've got for you in this edition of From the Desk. Other than the fact that I'm still chugging along at my novel, Whisperwood. The manuscript is just over 600 pages now and counting. But otherwise, I want to thank you for sticking with me for another episode of this From the Desk blog. I'll be in touch real soon for some more updates and recommendations.
